MA in Public Policy and Development is a four-semester programme based on Credit Based Semester System (CBSS). Programme outcome

  1. MA Public Policy and Development programme will enable the learners to use social science tools and engage in policy analysis on every day and long-term problems confronting government and communities within countries and the world at large.
  2. This program enables learners to comprehend the developmental challenges faced by the global community, as well as those specific to India and Kerala. Additionally, it fosters the capacity to communicate proficiently through both written and oral mediums, adhering to academic standards. 
  3. The programme will equip students with professional and ethical competence to conduct basic social science research. 
  4. The learners will acquire a strong ability to analyse complex problems, especially in crisis situations and recommend rationally informed decisions. 
  5. Furthermore, the students will develop a high degree of cognitive and interdisciplinary skills.

Career Paths 

Policy Analyst/Advisor: Students can pursue roles as policy analysts or advisors in governmental agencies, non-profit organizations, or consultancy firms. 

Public Service: Graduates may work in various administrative roles within government agencies at local, national, or international levels. 

International Development Specialist: Careers in international development organisations, such as the United Nations, World Bank, or NGOs, involve formulating, implementing, and evaluating development projects and programs.

Researcher/Academic: Opportunities in academia or research institutions involve conducting research on public policy issues, publishing scholarly articles, and teaching courses related to public policy, governance, and development. 

Policy Advocate/Lobbyist: Graduates may work as policy advocates or lobbyists for advocacy groups, interest organisations, or consulting firms.
